Hi all.
We have intermittent failure to power the ignition when the key is turned on or ignition comes on, all dash lights on, won't turn over.

Then it starts and runs fine for a few days.. Now, it starts and then dies..
WTH? Holding the Aux Batt switch down, it will start and run fine. Until you release the aux switch. Then the engine dies..

Both Batts are good. Terminals clean. Voltage in spec.

This unit has a Starter or Ignition relay. A Motorcraft F5TU-11450-BA, which of course they don't make anymore.. Who would be a good source to find an equivalent relay? I can't even find a data sheet for the old one..

If memory serves , Ford used to give updated / replacement parts , a sequential higher suffix , did you check with Ford for the replacement , possible a ( F5TU-11450-CA or BB ).

Can you post a picture of the existing relay ?

This part is very generic so many to choose from actually.Look at pic and so many are the same or have mount hole at 180 instead of 90degrees . Rock has old part # I use Rockauto many times for part #s. I would order more but sometimes 4 parts will come from 4 warehouses raising shipping costs.

Thanks all. I will check out those numbers. I tried Motorcrafts website but its search would no work for me.

I took it apart, found one of nuts loose. They put on 2 terminals, a nut and then another terminal on top of that.

Cleaned all the terminals with sandpaper and a wire brush. So far so good. Works.
