OMGosh, the compressor wasn't coming on so I climbed on the roof, pulled the shroud and removed the panel covering the capacitors. Told wife to turn the unit on and immediately one of the three capacitors caught fire. I yelled turn it off like seven times and blew the flame out until the unit went off. I have never seen anything like that, we could have burned up if the unit died in the middle of the night. This is JFYI everyone so beware.

Nah, the panel covering the start capacitors is metal. Fire would go out. How do I know. I have the Coleman Mach 6535 Basement AC Woke up to it cycling on and off. Shut it down, Next morning I opened up the case and the top inch had burnt right off.

Yup, sometime these things are scary.
