I see no reason to use MSW on anything, PSW has gotten so affordable. That said, think about the visual of the PSW vs the MSW, now overlay those two and visualize everything that's outside of the PSW is wasted energy. That isn't a totally clear picture but in short it's not efficient and motors hate it. It will work, just like you can live for awhile on water that's contaminated the question is just how long.

MSW was great in its time , like the old AM radios. It is good for incandescent lights and non variable speed power tools with brushed motors. It will run an induction motor (like a fridge compressor) but the compressor will run much hotter. CFL and LED lights do not work well on MSW.
Some new fridges use variable speed compressors for better efficiency and may or may not work with a MSW inverter . Some electronics can be destroyed by running them on a MSW inverter.

Run a 2021 7.5cf Thomson refrigerator (Sam's Club) off a 2021 Harbor Freight 2000W MSW inverter with a couple solar panels charging the battery in the truck camper. No sweat. But keep in mind that it's not a fancy dancy high end refrigerator. It fit the space that a smaller under counter refrigerator has previously took up.... after ripping out the LP tank and putting it somewhere else.
As for asking the manufacturer, there are very few that will say their products will run off an inverter unless they are marketed as being able to run off an inverter. Due to liability and lawyers.

Our OEM Whirlpool runs on MSW and has just fine for 8 years now.

Same when plugged it. So, the msw inverter only comes into play when unhooked and generator is off? Right?

Exactly. My 2015 Tiffin came with a MSW inverter and residential refrigerator. It seemed to run fine, I did have a control board go out, but not sure if that was related. They say it's harder on the motor. The less you run off the inverter the less of an ithis is.
I did eventually upgrade my electrical system and now have a PSW inverter

So picked up the Hisense fridge. Lo and behold the brand now says “Mora”.
Same model number, same fridge, same pics, same everything. Can’t find any thing on a Mora brand. Looks like it’s possibly a Hisense European branding name. Maybe Costco renamed it?
Will keep folks posted, looks like a good alternative to the norcold 1200. No ice maker. Electronics look very old school/led.

You can buy a pure sine 1000W inverter for $100-$150 these days. Wire it to your existing battery bank and an extension cord to the new fridge and you won't ever have to worry whether your new fridge is happy or not.

Lots of threads suggesting you need a pure sine wave $$$ inverter. Others don’t use it, no issues.
We plug in a college fridge and runs perfectly.
So why wouldn’t a slightly larger fridge work?
Specifically, looking at a Hisense 17.2 CF fridge $699 at Costco.
Wanted a Samsung RF 18, but those are $1600+.
We use the rv about 3-4 weeks a year.
Any input on the Hisense? I know, Samsung is better. Samsung has wifi, fancy electronics, etc. We don’t need any of that. And it’s $1000 or so less…

Shop around for the Samsung, look at national internet sites, that looks high to me.

A cheap inveter won't have a bypas, likely won't be reliable. And when you are plugged in this will be extremely inefficient.
