Question considering buying a 1997 Holiday Rambler Navigator - help

I am considering buying a 1997 Holiday Rambler Navigator 40WDS and I am looking for some opinions on these questions:

1. with 160,000 miles on it - should i be worried about this coach with that many miles on it - it looks like it is in very good condition and tires are 2 yrs old
2. if I could buy this for about 45,000 does that sound like a fair deal?

3 - any imput you may have on this type of older coach would be great!

thanks everyone for your help!!!

Have you had a close look at the unit for leaks? Any engine or transmission work done (beyond the usual filters, etc). I just bought a 1998 Beaver Patriot with 90k miles, but it had a recent engine replacement as well as new brakes and rad. It has a couple of small leaks, so I'll be doing a total roof sealing this weekend. 45g is a fair deal based on what I've seen out there. Do you have a fair amount of experience with RV ownership?

Is it the 325 or 450hp model?
Regardless, I think $45k is too high.
If well taken care of the 160k miles may be okay but if you decide to sell, a dealer will not take it in trade.
Is this the first motor home you have looked at?
Be prepared to spend both time and money fixing all the systems and updating it.

The 160k issue shouldn't be a problem --it's a diesel after all-- as long as it has been well maintained. Yes, be sure to have chassis components checked and inspected before purchase.

I too have a gut feeling that $45k seems high for that old a coach.

Diesels are good for hundreds of thousands of miles if not a million. If the MH has been taken care of then you may have found a nice MH. I also agree that $45k is on the high side for a 21 year old MH.
