Constantly Loose RHS Velvac Mirror

I have a right-hand-side rear-view Velvac mirror that constantly (~ every 2-3 days of driving) gets loose and starts shifting back and forth. Very frustrating: I keep tightening the locking screw, and it keeps going loose on me!

I am considering using thread-lock on the screw (the "can un-screw" kind, not the "can not un-screw" kind).

Has anyone had this problem with loosening rear-view mirrors, and am I considering something ... inadvisable ... in using the thread-lock?

Yes. This seems to be a common problem. Consider running another setscrew in on top of the existing one after tightening it. Just remember it is there if the mirror needs adjusting later down the road. I know that my door on my '05 Vectra would hit the mirror when the wind caught it. This would loosen it without fail.
