Coolant goes where??

Hello!

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Discovery 35H. Recently while driving the eng prot light went on. A light said to check the message center, which mentioned coolant.

I figured it would be a no-brainer to see where the coolant goes. Attached are the pictures of the labels. Does it go in this container that says hydraulic reservoir fluid only? I see that the coolants seem to be antifreeze and coolant, but "hydraulic?"

Ack! Help, please!

Thank you!

That's the coolant tank, the decals refer what to add to the hyd tank, transmission and engine that's not visible, lol

It looks like it's low on coolant, the decal tells you what type to use, the reservoir is clear so you can see the level...

I don't want to give any bad info, be sure before you add coolant...blowing you pic up, that may not be a pressure cap. Remove the cap that's on the reservoir, if it's power steering, it'll have red dextron transmission fluid in it....I ain't standing there looking at it, but the cap should also say what it takes, a radiator cap will have a pressure rating stamped onto it.

Your coolant cap is just visible above and behind the hydraulic reservoir. It's dark back there and kind of hard to access.

Once you get the cap off, use a squeeze pump and a hose to add coolant.

Do NOT put coolant in the hydraulic reservoir!

Definitely confusing that they put all the fluid requirement decals on one tank.

RIGHT?? I'll take the cap off tomorrow and see if it says anything on it. I hate to have to hire a mobile mechanic just to add coolant.

I see it! I was looking at the picture on phone,
The black hose on left that's coming off the cap filler neck, should go to a coolant expansion tank. Hopefully there's a way to put coolant in it as well.

I have the same coach, 2006 35H and in order to get to put any coolant in the surge tank. you need to push the rubber piece back and get your hand in there to unscrew the cap. It may be darn near impossible to do if this is the first time removing it due to the limited working room. Adding coolant requires you use some sort of pump. Sometimes I use a 3 foot long hose and place the coolant container up on the raised rear access hatch, and let the coolant syphon into the tank.

I find it much easier to remove the clothes closet floor and get to the radiator cap that way.

If the coolant hasn't been changed before, its time to do that.

Here is a picture of the surge tank looking at it from the rear of the coach. You can kind of see the coolant level, and it should be between the upper and lower arrows. I usually place a flashlight right up to the tank and it illuminates the coolant better so these old eyes can see it! The cap is on the opposite end of the tank that is in the picture.

The labels are certainly confusing: the red one says use Dexron III or equivalent while the blue one says use only Transynd...

Because of those stickers being placed like that, I have read where several owners and service technicians have out the wrong "stuff" in the wrong place and caused a lot of problems!
