Has anyone changed coolant hoses on a 1994 460 engine. The ones the parts store gave me are not correct. Now they tell me they are special hoses and they can’t get them. Is that possible? I am in the process of changing out belts hoses and cannot find the hoses.

are you talking about upper/lower radiator hoses... you need to find someone in the parts business that has some gray hair..

Almost all manufactures of hoses make a master catalog that allows the counter man to search by openings on the end of the hose.... and the hoses shape.. I have never looked to see if those master catalogs are available on the internet but I assume so....

Gates, one of the largest is the one I'd search for... they used to make picture catalogs as well... where you compared the hose in your hand with pictures in a catalog to get the correct part number...

I have done some research and found multiple part #s and manufacturers. So far none of them match. I was hoping someone had a 1994 F53 with a 460 engine that may have changed their hoses and recorded the part #s.

X-2 what jelag said. Needed to exchange a fuel pump on my 75 ford that i bought 14 years ago and part number obsolete. This guy grab a 5 inch parts book and five mins later found the original pump. Most parts guys would give you the run around. Back to your question, no, but on my 96, I bought from Rockauto and they have pictures. Good luck!!

If I get the right ones I will buy another set to keep with me as a spare. The hoses still look good but for piece of mind I wanted to change them.

I think these are the ones I bought for my 94 when I had it. I'm not a 100% sure but these are Napa part numbers so you should be able to do a search on them to see what they look like.

The way I bought new hoses for my Motorhome. Went to Napa the guy says what’s it for I says country coach he says nope. I says here are the hoses I need you to pick out hoses with the same diameter and similar bends in the hose. I bought both hoses and cut out the sections that would work. One of the hoses was good for a spare also. They also had a book with pictures of hoses and dimensions just bring your old hoses so they can be matched.

On my 97 Ford F53 V8 460 the hoses are: Motorcraft KM4941 (upper), Motorcraft KM4969 (lower), and the by-pass hose is Gates 21909. I had them changed in August 2014 and purchased them from Rock Auto. I went through this same routing as well.
