Country Coach 97 Intrigue

Recently purchased a 97 CC Intrigue with Power Tech 7 Kw generator. On first trip to RV park and using 50 amp shore power, both dometic heat pumps worked great with DuoTherm thermostat. After unplugging shore power at end of camping trip, started generator, but heat pumps won't come on even after running gen for 10 minutes. breakers on generator were not tripped. Stopped Gen and re-plugged shore power back to rig. Both heat pumps started up and worked great.

Could the transfer switch be the problem? Appreciate any thoughts on trouble shooting the problem.....thanks much......Meltdown

Does everything else operate fine on the genset? Did you flip to A/C to be sure the units were getting power from the genset?

Maybe it's by design that the heat pumps are disco'd during genset operation. But I would think if the A/C would operate, so would the heat pumps as they are all in the same unit.

Did you flip the generator breakers off and back on? Do you have 120 volt at outlets when the generator is running and not connected to shore power? Make sure your inverter is not turned on when you check outlet power. If not then suspect your transfer switch.

It could be a transfer switch problem.

When running on generator only and unplugged from shore power, do any other AC items work such as the microwave, TV, margarita blender, etc.?

Thanks for your response. I will be trouble shooting this afternoon, concentrating on the transfer switch. Several articles I have read suggested tapping the transfer switch box in an effort to actuate contact(s) and/or relays. Also read that humidity can do a number on electronic circuits such as the transfer switch.

Travel safe and thanks again..........Meltdown
