Cracked windshield!

So, we are now on our way back from Colorado Springs and was somehow struck by an object on I-70 and it cracked my windshield on the passenger side. It is an older RV as you can see in my signature below. It is a three-piece windshield with two large sections on each side with a narrow strip in the middle. It is not repairable as there are three long cracks each about a foot long. Progressive will replace the damaged section for a $500 deductible. The cost of that one section is $1600 plus shipping and labor. My problem is they will just replace that one side so... there would be a huge mismatch because because the windshield is 27 years old and both sides are fogged around the edges. They said I would have to pick up the expense for the other side. Anyone know where I can get a newer driver side replacement and middle section for our 1990 Regency at a reasonable price?

At a reasonable price? I doubt it but it depends on what you consider reasonable?

I'm assuming your windshield looks something like the one below?
Maybe a salvage yard? But you're going to need new seals too aren't you. WOW, this could be a tough one.

Might be best to post this question here:

OR

when you get to that forum, search that forum by doing this:
How to do a forum search:
ē Once that main forum page loads, go to the green search box at the top and to the right and type in what youíre looking for

Good luck.

Hey...... how did you get a photo of my coach?? LOL. That is how my coach looks exactly. The passenger side is cracked and as indicated above, the cost of $1600 just for the left windshield is ridiculous. Thanks for your help, I will keep searching.

A lot of RV windshields are made by Guardian. See if there is a "LOGO" somewhere on the windshield. You may also just call Guardian and ask them if they made the windshield for your RV. The person I talked to a year ago was very knowledgeable. www.Guardian.com

good luck -- Dale

Had our driver's side windshield replaced last month. Called around and was surprised at how much everyone wanted to replace it. A couple of the threads here mentioned RV Glass Solutions so i called them to get an estimate. They had the best price and did all the legwork to get us into a local glass shop for installation. Was a smooth transaction,, very happy with the outcome.

RV glass is their business so they would be a good place to check.
