Cummins 275 overheats

Hi all... have a 99 Endeavor with a 275 cummins diesel engine. Can run it on the interstate on a 90 degree day running 65 mph and runs great... if it rains or road gets wet it immediately overheats and the stop engine light comes on.
I'm sure the radiator needs replaced, but why would it only overheat when it gets wet??

Overheating

Two things I would check are fan belts either loose or pulleys worn so the moisture makes them slip enough the fan cannot move enough air thru the radiator and the other thing is check the air cleaner condition so it doesn't cause to much restriction when wet starving the engine for air causing a over fueling condition. Good Luck

Be sure the CAC and radiator are clean too. That rig is notorious for slobber tube gunk clogging the cooling system.

On our Freightliner we had multiple problems when it rained. After crawling around and cutting out bad crimp connectors and using CRC contact cleaner and lubricant on all slip-on connections - plus opening the dash and using CRC contact cleaner on the daisy chain wiring on the back of the LBCU (you many have a different beast). AND SUDDENLY - ALL THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY!

When troubleshooting anything I always bring my meter, my CRC and dielectric grease. I faithfully pull fuses and test them, then clean them and replace - also the spade lugs and plugs. At the least - I'm sure I'm preventing future problems.

We had experienced; Water in Fuel shutdown , Loss of secondary air on the gauge, Loss of primary air on the gauge, Loss of coolant shut down. All due to corroded/improper/bad connections three years ago after buying the MH. Since those repairs our only failure has been a REAL ruptured upper radiator hose.

Sounds like there may be stuff like grass, hay and leaf stuff between the stack of rads and in corners of shroud . Stuff gets wet stops letting air through like a wet air filter.
