Cummins Fleetguard LF9009 vs LF14000NN Oil Filter

Has anyone looked into or using the newer LF140009NN oil filter upgrade for the LF9009?

The LF9009 specs are 98.7% efficiency @ 30 micron and 60% minimum @ 10 micron which is the CES 10765 specs minimum rating for 10 micron.

The LF140009NN supposed to be a synthetic based material upgrade that provides a 98.9% efficiency @ 30 micron and higher efficiency of 72.3% @ 10 micron.

Had trouble finding the actual LF9009 10 micron specs on Cummins data sheets.

I have the 8.9L 400ISL and may switch to the newer filter next oil change.

I've got at least one 9009 left and just serviced it. So it'll be awhile but good info, thanks.

Are you suggesting you want to change to a new oil filter? Fleetguard LF 9009 is the Cummins recommended ISL filter. I had no trouble buying one at the Cummins parts store in Tampa last month.

Just installed the new one a few days ago and haven't gone anywhere yet. I saw that it had a new designation but didn't know why. This is on my ISX 650 and I just did am oil/ filter change in my driveway. 14 gallons of oil, bought a small wading pool to catch it all and O'Reilly takes 5 gal a day.

Do the filters flow the same amount of oil? You don't want to starve the engine for oil or put the filter into bypass. Just something to think about.

The new filter is supposed to have better cold flow rate during startup. It is listed on the Cummins site as an upgrade to the LF9009 for an ISL engine when I type in my engine data. All 2020 and up L9 engines come standard with the LF140009NN.

I plan to contact local Cummins Dealer to confirm for older units. The LF9009 is still available.

The screen shot shows the Cummins filters listed on their website that are compatible with my ISL400. It list the new filter as an upgrade. The others are the data sheets on the new filter.
