Cummins V Freightliner

This a service question for my 2006 diesel 37' Coachmen Cross Country SE.
I have both Onan 6.5 generator and Cummins engine issues to resolve. In the past, I've made well meaning, horrid choices for RV service and repair. I live out in Talladega, AL.
My choices in Birmingham, AL are: a Freightliner dealer who will do engine, but not generator. I have to take RV to another place. Or, a Cummins dealer who can do both. I am assuming both can clear my MMDC
Any input as to which would be better is greatly appreciated.
BTW, after resolving these, I'll be seeking an RV repair firm for internal electrical problems. My circuit plugs keep popping off. My TVs, microwave, Tripp-lite, .. are dead. Something has really gone wrong.

Bite the bullet and take it to Cummins and get it fixed right the first time.

You are about 300 miles from Freightliner Factory Service in Gaffney, SC. They will do the Cummins and Onan work and do it at better prices than independent dealers.... or at least that has been my experience. Take a 4 hour drive and get it done. They have onsite "campsites" so you can stay a day or 2 in your unit if they need that much time.

Good info. Thanks bunches. If not for my electrical issues, I'd 100% jump on that. About five hours by car. Probably six by out RV driving. I just worry what will stop working next.

My gut feeling. But just checking.

There's a place east of Birmingham near one of those big reservoirs (Martin Logan ...?) on the Coosa River that probably diagnose your house electrical problem quickly if that's not too far to go. Steve Shafer is great at tracking down that kind of stuff.

Know them well. Taught his kids. Just thought this might be a step beyond their small shop. They've worked on my older '94 Dutchman and this guy.
Thanks for kudos to Steve and the gang. Will give a try

This is a great idea...if you want to wait three months or more before getting into the shop. They are scheduled out that far! You can’t just “drop by” for service there. You must have an appointment.

The Freightliner factory service center in Gaffney is likely the best place in the country to take a Freightliner chassis for maintenance. And a lot of people know this. And that’s why they are so busy!

I've gone standby several times and always got in. They finish another one early or a no-show and they're happy to have the work. Of course, maybe I was just lucky and did have to wait a day or two so early in the week is the best strategy. Also would depend on what you needed done. Good luck!

Minton’s Auto & RV in Anniston. Ask for Don. They are certified on ONAN and do engine work. Don has always taken care of us.

Gafney will do routine service of both Cummins and Onan products, but won't fix an actual engine problem, e.g. replace fuel injector pump. They basically do bolt-on repairs like starters and alternators, plus maintenance (oil changes, belts).

I mention this because owners tend to lump everything in the back under "engine problems", but more often than not the problem is in fuel delivery, cooling system, etc. Those are systems that Freightliner provided when they installed the Cummins engine itself.
