Current RV Insurance - Good Company and good price

I got my yearly quote from State Farm at $1000.
I check good Sam and it was $250

My RV is 20 years old, Mandalay 40 feet diesel pusher.

How much are you guys paying and have you had to use them ?

I bundle my RV insurance with my house & auto.

I pay $196 for agreed value of $59K. This is limited to 6 month of usage with is fine with me.

Prior to bundling my RV insurance in 2020 with Grange was $816, agreed value at the time was ~$125K that had been in place since I bought the coach in 2008. After moving to another insurance company they questioned the value so we went back and forth and came up with the $59K.

IF the coverages are the same or close, jump on the Good Sam.
You could try progressive thru AARP, but $250.00/ year seems quite good.

The annual premium for my 03 Itasca is $301 a year here in Texas. That's comp, collision, liability, and roadside assistance/towing. Only thing is, it'll only pay acv which I have a feeling wouldn't be much if ours ever got totalled.

Being only $250, the OP better read the policy closely to make sure it has the coverages and numbers he's wanting.

dang, I'm paying 1600 a year from progressive. 70,000 agreed value but said I have to keep recipes to justify,(and i always do) and I also carry 25,000 in towables for trailers or toad on the same policy. but seems like a lot compared to what I see here. i thought it was a good deal, but maybe I need to check around again. I been with progressive for 5 years now, has gone up a few hundred over the years. Before that it was USAA.

Insurance

We changed from State Farm to Allstate back in April ,and went with a local Allstate Broker.
The annual for our 2013 Tiffin is $565.00. National General wrote the policy and they are an Allstate company.
They offered a break since we have it in storage in our shop at home. They call it Garaging or something to that effect,so if we need to drive it we call and let them know . This works well for maintenance / service ,or just running the coach for an hour or whatever since they activate full coverage for a 24hr period that starts when you call, free of charge.
Otherwise if doing a trip you call and let them know the time frame they bill you for that period which is by the month.
I believe we valued the coach at $120K, no roadside or towing.
Haven't had to file a claim so can't comment on that.
Good Luck,
Happy Trails !

You really need to see what is included in the policy.

I have everything except my RV with State Farm. Not only were they higher than National General, but they did not include things like trip interruption, decent windshield deductibles, reasonable contents coverage, ...

All good info, I emailed my agent and asked him what they valued my 20 year old RV at for replacement coverage and he had it at $215 K

I didn't even pay that when I bought it
So I asked him to value it at $100K, which is till to high and give me a new number
Waiting on the new number.

Insurance companies pay ACV or agreed value, whichever is less.

I know numbers are all over the board but I don't see any way in the world that amount coverage could be had for $250 a year. Hope it works out but I have a feeling you or your insurance guy is missing something.

Are you sure he did not say 21,000.00......LOL .. Seriously though, May I ask what insurance company and what type of coach you have? When I went with progressive from USAA I had a hard time getting them to even do an agreed value at 70,000, they had the coach valued at 35,000 and I told them it was impossible to replace what I had for less than 70, so i had to agree to keep all my receipts to justify the value and is till think they would try and weasel out of a payout like they all do.

On my last two policies ACV not to exceed stated amount. I would read the policy carefully on the stated amount clause as my agent always says the police will pay UP TO the stated amount.

Stay away from SafeCo, a subsidiary of Liberty National. We're suing over a blatant breach of contract/claim denial.

The term "agreed value" is being conflated with "stated value". "Stated value" is the maximum amount an ACV policy will pay, whereas "agreed value" is a guaranteed payoff amount regardless of the current market value. I.e., the insurer has agreed to pay that valuation. Usually the agreed value is the owners original purchase price, but it doesn't have to be.
