Damon Astoria dash A/C problems

2008 Damon Astoria. I took the coach in for regular service after a 7000 mile trip. I asked about checking the dash A/C as it didn't cool as well as I wanted. Result was a clogged dryer and some valve. Said the cost to fix around $4600.00. Does this sound right? I am ignorant about the operation of A/C so any help would be appreciated.

That sounds outrageous, I could easily replace both of my roof top a/c (about $700 each + labor of approx $250). Add a third one up front and have $$$ left over for a party, get some more estimate on that one.

That is a possibility but you may be just low on 134 . If the dryer is badly restricted you can tell by turning on the a/c unit with the engine running see if the compressor clutch is engaged and feel the temperature of the pipe entering the drier and the pipe leaving . If the leaving pipe is colder it is restricted . Before spending all that money add a couple of cans of 134 and see if it starts blowing cold air it may just be low on 134 due to a slow leak. If this is the case take it to an auto a/c shop and have it leak checked.

Damon Astoria dash A/C problems

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I went to the repair facility today and had a look at the problem. They showed me the dryer and a valve that had been removed. Both had clogs in them. They said that once the dryer fails and the material inside gets into the system, the compressor grinds these little balls and contaminates the entire system. It looks like the extended warranty I have will cover a large portion of the fix. Basically the entire system from the compressor to the front cab have to be replaced.
