Dash goes dead when trying to start engine

2006 Monaco Monarch - Ford F53 - new battery - When I go to start the engine, the dash goes dead. Turning the key on or off, nothing happens. Coach batteries do not help. Problem seems to clear itself on occasion, but then there is nothing again the next time I try to start it.

While setting in the yard, engine started, shut it off, dead. Turn key off, nothing, turn key on again, started. Shut it off, tried again, dead. Shut it off, nothing. Left it for 15 minutes, tried again, nothing. Shut key off and back on and it started.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this problem? Or has anyone ever had this same probem?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Start with the basics. Check your chassis battery terminals and cables.

Go ahead and clean the connections even though they may look good.

I would also look around the base of the steering column for the ignition switch. The key turns a lever that moves a rod across terminals on your ignition switch. Check the connections and movement.

I am with mgscott4 on this one. I think you may have a bad ground. Follow the black ground cable from your chassis battery and clean the termination points.

ON mine hitting the "Emergency Boost" switch does help. So far it's always been dirty battery connection. 2005 Damon Intruder Gasser.

Check those chassis grounds. That is the starting place for this kind of problem. good luck.
