Diamond Shield Removal with Goo Gone
Has anyone tried using Goo Gone to help remove Diamond Shield? The front of my 2005 Newmar is looking terrible and needs to have the Diamond Shield removed.

There's a 3 part video on Youtube about how to safely remove Diamond shield. Here's the first part.
The Ugly juice they talk about is 175.00 per container. I'm sure there are other ways.

Goo Gone is not much better than water. I could go on and on about the many products I tried.......... bottom line is the only thing that works is Xylene. You can get it in the paint department at Lowes/Home Depot, etc. Put it in a spray bottle and use a plastic razor. It won't hurt the paint, but it is not friendly to plastic light covers, so tape them off

Removed my Diamond Shield
I recently removed my Diamond Shield and was going to open a thread about it, but this seems like a good place to post some details. You should see 2 pictures of my bus. One shows my progress after 10 tough hours. I was using plastic hand scrapers from Home Depot. Then I tried some plastic razor blades with a fairly comfortable handle. I got two handle/holders and 100 reversible blades for not a whole lot of money on Amazon. The solvent I used throughout was called Rapid Remover and it worked pretty well, also bought on Amazon. I applied lots of it, waited about a minute and then began scraping, adding more solvent as I went, sort of as a lubricant. Things really sped up. The finished front end took a total of 24 hours including loose glue removal at the end. If I had started with these scrapers and the solvent I know I could have cleared the whole thing in about 16 hours. I'm adding snips of the solvent and the blades. I did not spare the solvent and went through a gallon and a half, using a spray bottle available at Home Depot. It was about $65 per gallon. Let's see if I can post the attachments:

I remember one poster using a wallpaper steamer to add heat to soften.. If you have messed with steam the heat transfer is very fast

The heat can damage the paint.

To answer your first question, I tried Goo Gone to remove a small section of Diamond Shield to fix a scratch in the fiberglass. I can tell you it didn't work worth a flip. Acetone was better and didn't harm the clear coat, but was still a lot of work. It was a small area so I didn't get any Xylene but that would have been better still.

Thanks for the advice and I have watched those videos and Ugly Juice would be my first choice but I am in Canada and getting the product shipped here would be too difficult.

I just did my Country Coach a couple months ago. Goo Gone does nothing for the shield itself. You need a heat gun on medium (a little above med) heat, plenty of plastic razor blades and plenty of patience. You need to park the coach in the direct sun shine ( the Sun is your friend in this case ) and do a section at a time. AFTER you get all the film off, then come back with goo gone or other products and start on the adhesive. Let is sit in the adhesive a good 3 or 4 mins before you even try to scrape it off with razor blades. Again do one section at a time I have about 12 hours in mine and it was MUCH worse than yours. DO NOT TRY to rush, you will damage the paint and make a mess.
Or you can pay someone about $1000.00 and they will do it for you.

Don't know what the guard is made from but this works for removal of decals, stickers and other things. It does not hurt the paint. I used it on factory decals on my RV and on my boat. It is rubber and disintegrates as you use it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://ww w.walmart.com/ip/De-Solv-it-Adhesive-Remover-Contractors-Solvent/44121635to and plastic razors do it extremely well. Be sure to mask off your plastics and trim.
Do a square foot at a time, apply, wait, scrape. Repeat. Wipe down with d sol and rag. Rinse with water. Try to get a smaller jug.

Go to a good auto parts store that sells to body shops. Buy an eraser wheel and chuck it into your favorite drill. It’s typically used for removing pinstripes.
