Diesel Generator Fuel Pump PSI help

I need to replace the 12v fuel pump on my 1994 Kubota/PowerTech generator.

The current Cube type pump has specifications of 5.5 to 9 psi.

PowerTech may not have the cube type anymore. They sent me a different style with their part number and it will have to be adapted to the mounting location. I will learn more on Monday.

However, I cannot find anther replacement cube type fuel pump with that large a range of psi capability.

Which is more important, the lower or higher PSI specification for a Fuel Pump?

Both, it has to be within the range but not necessarily that wide of a range.

They're pretty easy to adapt, you can bolt them anywhere convenient.

Thanks for the info.

So the real question is, how do I narrow the range of PSI for the next pump if both max and min psi is important?

I doubt Powertech made the fuel pump. Most generators use the small cube style fuel pumps that are generic. Just make sure the pressure and flow rate are close to your current pump.
You can find one at most any auto parts store.

The maximum and minimum establish a pressure range. You can have a narrower pressure range and still stay within those parameters, right?

Yes but how much narrower can it be?

I have found a 12v cube type fuel pump with from 4.5 to 9 psi.

The only 5.5 to 9 psi cube types I have viewed are 24V.

This is for a 7kw, slide mounted genny, in the nose of the rig.

I have no grip on what the psi rating means for this purpose.

Final Solution by OP

I acquired a cube Fuel Pump from Power Tech.

It works.

All is well.
