I used to obsess about diesel prices and prided myself on my ability to get in and out of typical stations that had a diesel pump or two. It only takes one thousand dollar deductible ( I wiped out a cash machine awning circling around behind a station to get to a diesel pump) to cost you several years of penny pinching on diesel prices. I used truck stops from that point forward. Just got my TSD card and any discounts I get will be an additional bonus to the convenience of using the card and avoiding the trip inside and/or multiple swipes of my credit card.

Neither of those places I fill show up on the TSD app because they are not in network but they both have commercial lane along major routes.
Care to share details? I'm not always along interstate highways and it would be nice to be able to fuel at e.g. Pacific Pride truck lanes along 101 in Oregon. I tried to contact them a few times to see if there was some way I could give them money but could never get a response.

It might be tricky in Oregon because the diesel prices at truck stops there don't include the 36 cents/gallon PUC tax. TSD says it adds that to the price they list (or did last October, when someone posted this photo):

Granted every situation is different. Below is the best Diesel price I could find using Gasbuddy & TSD for my trip from CT to NC. I stop here on every trip between those points.

Added bonus a huge parking lot so I can walk the dogs, make a meal in my coach and catch some sleep.

Petro Raphine VA 81 Gallons @ 2.62. Sure the TA Lexington VA is half a penny less but that huge hill upto the pumps and smaller parking.

Thanks!

If you like Flying J/Pilot apply for the Good Sam Rewards card. It is 8 cents off of the posted cash price. So usually 16 cents and you don’t have to pay the $1.00 fee or go inside.

We used to use them exclusively until we got the TSD card. Now we use TA/Petro. Last year, before Love’s dropped their discount to a flat 16 cents a gallon, we used them. Same type of discount as TA/Petro today. Our trip from CA to FL and back we saved $500. Currently on same trip as I type, same savings with TA/Petro. Along with the convenience of pay at pump, maneuverability & fast fill, the discount is the cherry on top.

If the diesel pump (or gas for that matter) is slow to fill it might mean that the filter in the pump is clogged. That could mean a problem later down the road for a few cheap cents saving. Just my observation.

Low flow from a pump is an indication of the filter ( ea pump has a filter) being clogged. Dirty fuel or not changing the filter regularly cause that. Both a bad sign ! It’s the number one reason I stay away from small stations preferring high use stations be that truck stop or not that have fresh fuel constantly.

I am not sure what you mean by "share details".

My normal goto station is in George, WA, "Beer, wine and More" but "Shree's" is right on the other side of the street.

The place I referenced with the cheaper fuel is in Wapato, WA and called the Wolf Den.

If you are asking about how to pay, TSD should work in any commercial card reader, which is not the one on the pump. It is typically on the end of an island or in the middle of the fuel area somewhere.

How to pay is what I was curious about. I thought I could only use the TSD card in stations that show in the app.

My other question is how to find places with commercial lanes, and how to find out their prices. GasBuddy and Google maps do not show prices for Pacific Pride commercial lanes. I've seen the commercial lanes with Pacific Pride signs but if I'm traveling through an area I'm now familiar with, how would you find commercial pumps?

My question is how much discount off of the posted price can I get with the discount card at the truck stops? We just finished a 1000 mile trip from Florida and those are the prices we saw.

( IF I DIE WITH MORE THAN A DOLLAR TO MY NAME, I DIDN' PLAN RIGHT)
To get the best discounts with the TSD card you have to be willing to check their price reports. They update their listing frequently as the contracts change. Right now the best discounts are with TA/Petro.

If you need to fuel at a location where the TSD discount is not that great you might do better using a 'regular' discount card in combination with a credit card which gives points/cash back.

The TSD program is a fuel program designed for commercial trucking. These companies constantly renegotiate their fuel prices with the various fuel vendors and price discounts change regularly. When I drove semi for a company out of northern Wisconsin they told us where to fuel - we didn't choose on our own. Not just the particular brand, but also the specific truck stop. The large companies will save a lot of money doing this, and TSD opened their fuel program to motor home owners to benefit us and them. With a larger average monthly fuel purchase they are able to negotiate better rates for their drivers as well as for us, and we get to benefit as well.

Where does your card work? Answer: All all major truck stops.

That is a harder one. I use a combination of knowledge of the area, knowledge of brands and google (search and maps). For example in OR, Space Age fuel has a lot of stations with commercial lanes and it typically cheap. Best I have seen on TSD along our route is ~$2.60 and the Space Age in Hermiston was in the $2.40's (dont recall exact) but I did not need fuel then. I am fueling up in AZ later today and in a couple of weeks when we come home I will likely be filling up at that Space Age.
