Diesel won't flow to tank

I have a 2004 Georgie Boy with a Freightliner chassis that was stored for about a year and ran fine then. I went to fill it up recently with diesel and it would not take the diesel fuel even though it was less than half fill. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope to fix it myself as the dealer is over 30 miles away.

Describe what happens when you try to add fuel. This is pretty simple system a tube that goes from the fill port to the tank with a vent. First are you sure it is only 1/2 full? Will it take fuel very slowly? does it gurgle. Can you check the fuel fill tube for a collapse? is it a rubber tube or metal?

Sounds like a venting problem, check the vent or maybe a collapsed or partially collapsed fill hose. Had that problem on a 98 gas RV once.

Another vote for the venting problem. If you can add diesel to the tank from a low-flow pump, with a small nozzle like you find on a standard gas pump for cars, or even from a can, without overflowing the tank, then you have a venting problem. My coach has fillers on each side. One has a plugged or kinked vent hose, and the other works as designed. If you have dual fillers, don’t give in to the temptation to open the opposite side filler cap, as diesel fuel will escape (at pump velocity) from the other side.

The other probable cause is a malfunctioning fuel gauge, level sensor, or associated wiring. If you can add fuel at a very slow rate, you should see some gauge movement.

OK, I hate to say it but, because it's too late now. But you should not have parked it half full in the first place. Due to condensation that will build up in the tank you are most likely going to have a lot of issues.
Now to address the current issue, it's time to do a hand over hand inspection of the filling lines going to the tank. As others have said, do you have dual fillers and if so can you fill from the other side without issue? If so then you are in luck. No matte what you've got your work cut out for you. Look for collapses in the lines and soft spots in the hoses. Also you may want to grab your self a flexible (fiberglass) wire snake or something similar to push into the various hoses leading to the tank to see if there is some sort of physical blockage. The only problem doing this you may dislodge it and push it into the tank, which in turn will clog the pump and filter. So you may see where I'm going here. You may want to disconnect the end of the hoses closest to the tank and then snake the lines.
Basically you may get lucky or be in a world of hurt here. Good Luck
