Disabled Veteran seeking help
Hello,
I am currently a disabled veteran with 100% service disconnection P&T for my time spent in the Army. I am brand new to the motor home scene. I am wondering if there are any resources where I can find discounted or free stays at RV parks. I'm wondering if there is anything with state or national parks that allow for RV camping?
I will be in a 42' RV and wanting to be in Rhode Island during the summer months and Florida during the summer months. Those are the primary places we are looking to be in the next year or so.
Are there resources like the DEM who might be able to help. Can you point me to any online resources or know of anything else that might help me out in the RV world for veterans with a 100% service disconnection

You can apply for a disabled pass for the national parks for free; this also will get you free entrance plus discounted camping not just at NPs but at CofE Parks and National WRs and so on.
Many states will also have discounts for the disabled; you'd have to apply for each as you go through that state.

Harvesthosts.com is a site that allows you to stay for free after a 65.00 annual fee. there are 1500 sites around the country that you can stay at for free if you are passing thru. they do ask that you buy something from the place you stay. these places are wineries, distilleries, farms, and breweries. Check out the site and see if it fits your travels.

There is also: Boondockers Welcome... which will allow you to say for free, for a small yearly charge...

First off welcome to the forum.
You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add info if you can.
In addition to the NP free pass and Fam Camps and COE parks (our favorite parks) many state parks offer a significant discount for disabled vets but you need to check each each park
Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Thanks for posting this! It looks great. What a great alternative, particularly for touring.

Join the Escapees club Escapees RV Club (Home) · Freedom Driven They have a directory that has free and low cost overnights listed by state/city for the entire US and Canada. Well worth the price of just joining to get the directory.

Can anyone suggest things like long term stays in the Rhode Island and southern Florida areas? It’s looking difficult to find these.

Thank you for your service and with some ingenuity it's very possible that you can FT if that's what you're trying to do.
You didn't mention your budget but there's at least an indication that you have a tight budget. There are likely cheaper ways to stay in two different places than driving an RV back and forth. There are very affordable places in Florida where you could park a 5'er for the year or season. You may find that with a tight budget FT'ing is not the cheapest way to go. Good luck.

Hoorah Army,
Get your award letter, google your state, get your free state parks pass, visit any NP show lettter, get your pass, most importantly, get your DV handicap plate on.
The plates alone, get you in lots of places.
Terry
