DISH Satellite Reception

We are going to be spending 5 weeks in Canada (Calgary-Banff-Jasper area). I would like some feedback if there are any issues with the DISH reception in Canada.

I don't think DISH works in Canada. Give Dish a call to confirm.

We have dish pay as you go and it works just fine in Canada

We use DISH up in Canada every year with no problems. We are normally in Ontario and can see the western arc birds just fine. Should be easier from Alberta, assuming you are set up for the western arc. Don't let the mountains get in your way.

US sat reception in Canada can be a choir. The angle you might need is pretty flat. So if you ha e any blockage it could cause issues. It will also depend on what dish your using. An open faced dish will have a better chance of getting a signal.

Before going to those areas of Canada I converted by large internet dish to receive Sat TV signals. Others in our group didn’t have a strong enough signal by the time we got to Jasper. Because of the larger dish I had good signal strength.

We did Calgary Stampede and the Ice Field Parkway. NO Problems at all, In 2008 we went to Alaska and got reception in places. We do have a travlr open dish.
I am jealous of you, it is my favorite place in the world to me. Enjoy your trip.

You should have absolutely no issues with Dish in most of Canada providing you are not headed to the North Pole or Alaska where the angle to the South will be too low to receive.

Calgary, maybe. Banff, not likely. Calgary is close enough to the 4th that you might get a decent view of the Dish birds. We travel twice a year to the Edmonton area and never get a signal north of Red Deer ... and usually not in Red Deer either.
We're using a rooftop King dome.
