Anybody do there own RV port? I want to build one but need a little push to get me started. Pics and tricks would be help full.

I've priced materials, hired equipment, and hired labor I'd need to diy something vs. having a metal RV port erected. Can't justify the diy route.

Interested to hear others comments and experiences.

I built a DIY shade cover originally in 2011 for our travel trailer and expanded it for the current 40' DP. It is built using 1 1/2" tubing forming the frame and then covered with shade cloth that is attached with larger head metal screws. The shade cloth can be purchased at Home Depot in rolls that are 6 foot wide. The framework was built to attach together with metal screws. For the base, I welded a 3" 1 1/4" tubing every 6 foot to allow the sidewall frame to slip over it and then screwed in. The upper parts were all done in a similiar "tinker toy" method.
You can see from the on picture that the entire framework is braced against my block wall to give it additional support. The original section was 32 feet and I estimated it cost me $800 at the time. I added 12 feet in length and 1 foot in height in 2018 for the motorhome and that probably cost me at least $800 more (metal and the shade cloth) were quite a bit higher).
I will have to replace that shade cloth in the roof area in the next year as it took the most beating from the Arizona sun, but over 10 years life is good.

Built a 40' X 40' metal shed with a cabin and open porch with the RV in the center. Use it as a starting place on the farm . Go to any carport metal shed dealer and they should have something that will cover your RV. You can design what you want in most places. Get a good gauge metal supports and perlings and run the metal roofing and side panels vertically . Mine is rated for 120 mile a hour winds as it is anchored to concrete and finish is for 20 years . Guys came out and had it up and done in two days . Finished cabin myself , with full bath, kitchen and room for two beds for guess. Have full hookup for RV.
