Do I need a shorepower extra cord?

New to motor homes. I'm thinking about getting a 50 ft shore power cord. I have 30 amp service. Just curious as to how often you use one. Is there really a need?

I have 50 amp service and I carry an extra 25' cord with me. I've had to use it three times in the past eight years.

I have used my 100ft heavy duty extention cord once, I had the rig parked backwards so I could see the river traffic for a short stay, ended up buying another add-on sewerhose and stayed 2 weeks.
I had the heavy extension cord forever and only bought an adapter.

I also have 50amp service on my MH. I carry both a 50amp (25ft) and a 30amp (25ft) extensions - with a 30amp to 50 amp conversion adapter. I have had to use both just a couple of times in the last couple of years. Most of the time we are parked in the camp sites close enough to the power posts with out having to use the extensions. It is just good practice to have the extensions just in case. Being an old "boy scout- BE PREPARED" is my motto. They do not take up much room in the outside compartment.

If your going to be staying in state parks you may need one. I have one and in six years of full-timing I have never needed it. I would advise that you not buy one until you need it, most local RV dealers have them.

We travel 250+ nights per year. In the last 5 years we have used the electrical extension three times. We rarely stay at state parks or COE campgrounds. The times we needed it we were a long way from a major retailer or rv dealer and to get one would have been a major pain. We have a 50'-if I were buying again, I would probably do two 25' extensions. We also carry extra water hose. Do not use it often but when we do it is a major convenience to have.

Never need one. I always am able to reach the power supply with my RV's power cord while traveling.

Now... I park my RV in my side yard at home. I have planned to put in a 30 amp supply on the garage, but have not yet, I would need an extra cord to get the power to the RV if I ever did this. I do use a 100 ft "heavy duty" extension cord to get 20 amp power to the RV...this seems to meet all my needs for power while park at the home...the main reason I have yet to put in a 30 amp supply.

I've been RV'ing only 3 years but used our extention cord twice last summer. And it will be the day that you need it and dont have it that you have to drive half a day to buy it. I would get it just in case.

I have both 30 and 50 amp extension cords and adapters.. (25 feet of both extensions) only one time Have I ever needed to use more than one 25 foot extension.. Only once.

I have a 50 foot 30amp extension I have used it 2 times in the last year.

I was camping with my uncle one in the great state of new jersey when he needed a 50 amp extension with no rv stores around ended up going to home depot and building our own

Over the years we have been in quite a few sites that we have parked facing the wrong way, for the view, less noise to seep, and visit with frends we are parked with. I also carry extra fill and drain hose, and have used both at diffrent times.

You rarely need one, however when you do, it's convenient to have one available. We have 50 amp service and I carry a couple of 25' cords.

You'll only be glad you got it when you actually need it, but then you'll be really glad you got it. I have 2-25ft extention cords but have rarely needed more than 1, but we do use 1 fairly often. The other 1 gets lent out to friends once in a while when they can't quite reach the outlet with their own cords.

I've only used my extension once while camping. Glad I had it. I use it all the time when parked at home. I also have extra water hose.
