Went to the local Wally World last night. Saw a motorhome parked on a slope. The front wheels looked like they were at ride height and the rear wheels were dumped. I looked for jacks, and none were down. Rig looked pretty level with no jacks.

I ask myself how do you do that? I own a Newmar KSDP '07. I think the rig was a Safari?

Nice to be able to level it up without jacks.

It's called air levelling and it is a feature on many of the higher end DP's

Well Sir,
As has been stated, it's most likely "Air leveling". The coach is leveled by the air bags that it normally rides on. It's been stated that air leveling comes on the higher end coaches. I don't have a clue as what and which coaches have that. But, just wondering, is your coach having problems with it's leveling system, i.e. Jacks? You state you would like to level WITHOUT them. It's not all that hard to push a button to acheive level.

Just wondering.

Yep, ours has HWH air leveling and no jacks. I thought that might be a problem in some sites but so far it hasn't been. Gives about 8" of low to high adjustment. There is an electric air compressor that comes on if needed to keep the unit level when parked. Works better than I expected and we don't get any more movement from walking around than we did when we had jacks.

Jacks can be a problem if the ground is wet and soft, they will sink in rather than lift the coach. It may then be a problem to get them to lift up out of the mud. They also tend to sink into gravel. Also, jacks can damage some asphalt pavement, especially when it is very hot. These are reasons why air leveling is very desireable. Some coaches have one or the other, and some coaches have both air leveling and jacks.

And, yes I have been having a problem with the Atwood Level not retracting.

Yes Sir,
I know and understand all those POTENTIAL problems. But, the OP mentioned nothing about them if and when parked for an evening, day, month etc. I have yet to sink my jacks into "asphalt" due to heat. Done it on wetter soil a time or two but, not on asphalt or gravel. Just wondering what the problem was with using his jacks since it takes only a minute or two. No biggie.

I love our air levelers,unless extended staying or company I rarely use the jacks, and Fireup I'm finally closing in on my hydralift install also,can't wait to have the golf cart and toad without a trailer in tow too.

Well Sir, do get pics of all phases of the install. That will help not only you if you have to go back for reference for any reason but, if anyone else with your same coach has intentions of installing the Hydralift, you can them with pics of how you did yours. I've had many people use my method of install primarily for the fact that the Hydralift can be removed in a matter of minutes for maintenance purposes etc.

OK DP folks, from a gasser perspective

the one thing that appears to be very nice to me with air leveling is that if your site is nose down, you can dump the rear to level it instead of having to jack up the front. Keeps your steps lower to the ground, and greatly minimizes the need to put blocks under the front tires (I don't like to let mine hang) and / or jacks (minimize the extension)......
