DOD Mfg date on tires

I just ask for a quote on 6 Toyo tires for my MH from a Toyo Tire Dealer in Pensacola, FL, specifying that the DOD Mfg date for all tires was to be within the last 6 months....and he laughed at me. Said he could not provide that because his supplier would not provide that to him! Anyone have experience with this? Rook

The "date code" is stamped on the side of all tires. Mine say 1209 which means they were made in December [12] of 2009.

Tom, I know where the date code is on tires and I know how to read it. Rook

When I replaced my two steer tires this summer, I told my Michelin dealer I wanted fresh dates. He claimed that was not an issue so when I got the tires they displayed a DOT date that was less than 3 months old. I'd speak with another dealer if I was you. It's your cash.

The first two numbers after the DOT tells the week not the month.

ROOK; I probably used the same dealer, (Howell) and have for years..RV & auto.
Same discussion when I bought Goodyear G670RV's. He had in stock, dates were 2 at 8mos, rest 10 months old. Asked about ordering fresh, "distributor will not check dates". (otherwise his stock would not rotate)
Tire warranty starts when tires are sold..

It is a tradeoff, there is a point where it affects peace of mind and RV'ers are more concerned with safety/dependability than warranty coverage after the fact.
Ask about lug centering sleeves- they certainly improved the ride on my coach. Tru-Balance Wheel Centering Help Reduce Tire Wear

FYI : A DOT date code of 1209 says the tire was made in the 12th week
of 2009 ! ( Not December of 2009)

Having worked part time in a tire shop, your response that 'the supplier will not provide that information' is so far out of line that it is not even funny. Find another dealer that will give you good information.
The other option is that when you go in the have the tires installed, request to inspect them first.

warranty is probably not going to be an issue. The majority of posts I see on here center around changing the ties because of age. If your tires are a year old when you get them that is that much less time you are probably going to have them on your unit. If you go to sell the unit that age will probably be a big factor
