Does a DP-MH provide for electric trailer breaks?
Last summer my wife and I plunged into the class A world after owning a 5th wheel. So, we knew having a toad was going to be next with the debates on what and how, etc. Since we seem to rotate through our cars, we thought getting a tow dolly was the most viable option. Experts say, and we agree, the tow dolly should have electric breaks. My question is, (dumb it may be) does my diesel pusher, with it's air brakes, already have some kind of electronic trailer break controller built in, or are we going to need to buy and install a break controller for the dolly? Our towing capacity on our Nexus Bentley is 10K and it has the wired receiver that appears ready for use. I know I can ask Nexus, but our forums here are much more fun and objective in sharing info
Thanks for any thoughts and info!
Blessings on your happy trails

You are going to need to buy and install a break controller for the dolly. IMHO

Well, actually the word is BRAKE, not break. If you have a 7 pin trailer plug next to your receiver hitch the "probably" it's already wired for a brake controller. You'll need to find the wire under your dash that leads to the terminal in the your trailer plug on your MH. The terminal that controls the brakes is in the 5:00 Position. Once you find that wire, you should find another wire paired to the controller that goes to your brake light switch. Once that's done you'll need 12 volts and a ground wire to complete the wiring to the controller

Still another option to consider is a wireless controller, but I really do like the way this Demco dolly works!
Best wishes to all and thanks for the feedback!!

Buy a dolly with hydraulic surge disc brakes, it's about 100 more than electric drum brakes. Plus disc brakes are better than drum brakes.
Only other connection is the typical 4 or 7 wire lights harness.
Really simple, works auto-majically.
