It does not take much for the pump to cycle. I had a pin hole tank in my water heater located in the basement. Pump started to cycle, at first very slow, then got faster. But it was a very small leak.
I cannot physically see a broken pipe nope. I can tell you that there was a 1/4th of a tank of fresh water in my tank that I ran through the bathroom sink and toilet last night and couldn't see any new water on the subfloor.. I turned my pump on at the time but I wasn't really sure how fast a pump should cycle so i didn't think anything of it. Do I need to have some water in my fresh tank before I turn my pump on to see how fast it cycles? I used what was left in the tank last night, i can fill it up again though if need-be
Also, does a water pump cycle even when the water pump switch is disabled? Because I have been hearing something coming from the water pump area every so often for a few minutes at a time.. I thought it was something else though because the pump switch was off.
