The motors in these things fail due to water getting water in them. When mine failed on the road I made a noose out of a light rope and looped it around the scissors arms. I then had my wife pull the loop closed while I stood on a ladder and pushed the awning in while rolling it on the roller. Once the scissors arms were closed I was able to remove the rope and continue rolling the awning as the pressure was off it. You might even try the switch again once the pressure is off as in my case the motor would then run it just did not have enough power to pull in the awning against the scissor arm pressure.
