Don't overlook the simple thing

We are wintering in Arizona with our 2007 Discovery with a 10 gal Atwood XT
water heater with a mixing valve, we have been having problems with low water temperature. So I bought a new mixing valve to a tune of $130.00, still just warm water, adjusted the mixing valve without any improvement, installed new thermostats on the water heater with no help. I was going to plug the cold water going into the mixing valve when I remember reading on an RV forum that you should make sure your outside water sprayer hose faucet is shut off. Sure enough I had it open when I blew the lines out this fall. We now have good hot water after chasing my tail to long!

Cool Ya gotta love these Forums...

It is little tidbits of good info like that that makes these Forums worthwhile. One day after draining and lushing my water heater I discovered that I had no flow at either sink. The showers {in side and out} worked just fine. Everything had worked fine in the past... hmmm, maybe someone on the Forum has a clue.

I posted my question and in about 5 minutes had multiple replies... Check the aerators on the sinks. Yep, that did it. The debris from flushing the water heater had migrated up into the aerators plugging them. I simply removed and flushed the crud out and I was good to go. No telling how long it would have taken me to figure that one out without the Forums input.

I forgot to change my WH bypass valve back to normal flow after winterizing it one winter. Took me a a couple of hours to figure out why I did not have any hot water in the spring on our first outing. I alway (well apparently not) change the valve back to normal flow after winterizing!
