Door piston failure

So just took possession of our 2018 Georgetown. We have had it two days and the door piston has broken both days. In fact on the show room floor the same model was broken also. The first day the wind pushed the door past 90 degrees breaking the end piece above the step. The second day I brushed it with my elbow just past 90, it snapped again. Does anyone else have this issue? How did you handle it? I believe it is 24 in long and 20 PSI. could the pressure be too high or too low? Again the failure happenes when the door goes past 90

Thank you for all the great help.

Terry

It might be prudent to add a safety chain or cable to prevent the door from swinging past 90º.

I'm sure that if yours has broken that easily and the one on the showroom floor was broken, Georgetown may have a fix. Give the manufacturer a call and see if they resolved the issue. They may mail you a free fix.

If not, you may want to get some small vinyl wrapped cable at Home Depot and make a cable that attaches to both mounts of the piston, limiting it to 90degrees.

It would also be appropriate to vigorously complain to the manufacturer about the cheap crap they are putting on their motor home doors. As long as we accept this low level of quality, they will never change.
