Mission accomplished

Thanks to the community I installed a gas strut. Chose a 20" 10 LB and it works great. It took a lot of placement planning and I do not know how I was going to secure it until I drilled a hole. Turns out the door side was just aluminum but it had 3 layers. The frame was aluminum too with one layer. I was hoping for steel and was already to thread a Tap but in the end I went with blind rivets. If it does not hold up plan B will to drill through and put a nut on the back side.

It holds the door against the wind very nicely and does not change the force very much needed to open or closed the door.
