I have a "flap" on the leading edge of my Phaeton's door frame that I think is supposed to reduce wind whistle. This flap runs from the top to the bottom of the door frame, but sections of it are missing and appear to be broken off. Parts of it are flexible, but it is rigid where the segments are missing. I suspect that this has been discussed before in this forum, but I can't figure out the right search terms to find anything. (Not knowing what this piece is called doesn't help.)

Does anyone know what this device is called? Anyone know what it takes to replace it? I would like to cut down on the wind whistle. Even though it isn't driving me crazy, it would be nice if it went away.

Hi Project Pro! That leading edge is made of plastic. Mine started to break off in pieces. I finally removed all of it, it came of fairly easy and pried it out behind the frame overlap.
Rep,aced it with aluminum 1" angle iron. Glued it in and tapped a screw into the top and bottom edge

I would like to see a picture of that if possible please. I have plastic tape over mine and it works ok but not the perfect thing.

Good news is the door air deflector is cheap - less than $10 however, it is quite a pain to install it properly. You have to loosen all the door hinges to slide it in and then make sure the door is realigned properly.

I was able to pull out at the plastic piece Gingerly! Thanks sturdy aluminum angle iron was relatively easy to force in the space. You may see that it is not in all the way, neither was the plastic. I think it works. No whistle noises...

PS painted it with the color of the coach. Always keep a spray can around from touch Up!

FWIW, It's best to remove the screws from the frame before attempting to insert the new piece, but you don't need to remove the door or door frame, just move the front part out a bit. Remove the screws from under the rubber on the face and remove only the long screws from the hinges. That should give you enough "wiggle room" to remove the old piece and insert the new (preferably metal) piece.
