Dually Air Pressure

Would 3 psi difference between inside and outside duals be OK?

If you're asking will it cause sudden catastrophic failure, no. But it isn't going to help anything either. By having one tire under or over inflated the weight isn't evenly distributed between the two tires. The harder one will run hotter and the softer one will slip slightly. When it's convenient for you get them inflated to the same pressure.

You will want to watch the softer one to make sure you don't have a slow leak starting.

With 16 ply tires and as hard as the rubber is 3 lbs won't hurt anything. 10 lbs difference might. Proper pressure for tire size and vehicle weight is most important.

My thought is that you will almost always have a slight difference in psi. When the outer tire is in the sun it will have more psi than the inner if both tires had the psi in the shade. I don't think 3 is a big deal.

As long as both tires are inflated to a safe pressure for the load they are carrying, niether the tires or you will know the difference. You would have to chase pressures for a long while to get them all the same all the time. Before TPMS, 3-4% differences didn't matter as long as the "Thumper" yielded the same sounds and they felt ok. Now, some try to micro-manage tire pressures beyond necessary. JMHO

One trucker magazine ran a test some years ago. They set a truck up with various tire pressures and had 50 OTR drivers "thump" them. Only 2 of the 50 were able to distinguish the 20% low tires and none detected those that were 10% underinflated.
Get a good tire gauge and use it.
