Dumb question - Toilet paper
Not sure if this should go in general camping forum, but if it needs to be moved then please accept my apologies in advance "the Moderator".
Ok so total newb question, just purchased my first MH and whilst I was in CampersInn I saw they were selling RV Toilet Paper.
What's the difference between RV toilet Paper and other tp?
Thanks in advance

The difference is how fast and how well they break down.
I've always bought RV toilet paper at the RV store or Wal-Mart but I've heard that house hold toilet paper that is septic tank safe is the same thing or just a safe to use.

Price. Most any light-weight paper will work fine in a RV. We use a cheap two-ply without problem.

Several threads on this in this forum.. Do a search for some light reading. Most say to try what you use at home by taking a piece and putting it in some water, then shrill it around to see if it breaks down.. if so use that,, or as stated use a septic safe brand... Always use lots of water in the black tank and wait until it is 2/3 full before emptying the tank..

If it helps, we use Kirkland brand 2-ply toilet paper... always been our favorite and has never caused us a problem in our black tank.
You can watch this video to see how you can test your favorite TP to see if it will work for you in the RV:

It can be a matter of how much TP is used and not the type. My Grand kids plugged my toilet at the S&B with wads of TP. We use single ply in the RV with no issues.

I wouldnt say its a dumb question, you should get dozens and dozens of replies on this one. And probably an argument will break out at some time. :-)
I'm sure you'll learn more than you wanted to know about people's bathroom habits.

As others have said, any TP that states it is safe for septic systems will be OK. Of course, some will dissolve quicker than others. We have been using the Charmin Ultra Soft for years without any trouble. The Happy Camper (no connection) black tank treatment dissolves EVERYTHING in there!

Ive tested pretty much all of them, and the hands down winner for rv's is Scott's TP for rv's. You can find it in the rv section of walmart.
It breaks down as fast as any TP I have tried, and because of the pattern embossing it's very comfortable and passes the demands of my better half.
Your mileage may vary.

We use the Thetford Aqua-Soft 2-Ply RV Toilet Paper.
But as others have stated, it's how it dissolves that matters.

Whatever we had in the stick house, right now that's Kirkland brand, never a problem in all the years I've been rv'ing and I started when an indoor RV toilet was a pull out piece of plywood with a hole cut in it and a plastic bag underneath.
