Angry DuraShield mold

The company making DuraShield (Sharpline) shows 10 year warranty. Asked Newmar, said to contact them, but Sharpline only works with businesses. Also, they told Newmar only 5 year warranty. Anything beyond 5 years an environmental problem (not theirs). Look at ‘ugly shield removal.com’. They have videos posted on how to remove DuraShield and make products to do the ‘very labor intensive’ job. Is anyone as annoyed about this as I am?

I have Diamond Shield same problem it’s only good before it goes bad.

Mine went bad after about 5 years. Had a company in Dover FL remove it, but the paint came off when they did that. Had to have my front cap repainted. Total cost, $5.5k.

I removed the Diamondsheild from our Mirada after I bought it. At 8 years old it looked terrible. There was no damage to the paint in the 3 years we owned it after removal. We just bought a 6 year old Newmar and the Durasheild is just starting to go. Not looking forward to removing it, but I will be. And like on our Mirada, it won't be replaced!

I have never liked the DuraShield from the day the RV arrived from Newmar. Had it replaced(twice) under warranty and had to have grill painted once. Now getting mold. When I take it off, it’s not going back.

Response from Sharpline

I have been informed the DuraShield ‘Flex’ is what is on my coach. Probably the cheapest Junk Numar could find. Here’s the Sharpline Rsp.

The film chosen to be applied within the Newmar facility is not our DuraShield Titan film which is the one you are referring to on our website with a 10 year warranty. It is a different product which carries a 1 year warranty for parts and labor, the same warranty Newmar extends for other items like this on their units.

Our film warranty does not cover mold & stains. Mold is an issue caused by the environment & is not a manufacturing defect of the DuraShield Flex PPF.

We can offer you our upgraded DuraShield Titan PPF film at a reduced price of $335.00. The normal price is $425.00 & this is our top coated urethane which repels bugs & stains better than the original product that Newmar chose to use on your coach.

This offer does not include labor/installation fees.

Thank you,
Suzanne
Sharpline Converting

I guess RVs shouldn’t be exposed to the ENVIRONMENT? Just camp out in a storage shed.

Again for the hundredth time.
Keep it waxed, do it every six months. Mine at 7-8 years old still looks nearly new.
Should last another 7-8.
