Camping Stool

I ordered a low, folding canvas stool to send underneath before I dive under. I have to bend over a bit, but it sure feels better on my back to be sitting than bending.

I don't have that much trouble getting stuff out of the bays tucked under the slide. My problem is that I can't seem to remember to back up all the way before I stand up and scrape the crap out of my back. I guess I'm a slow learner.

My 2001 Harney Riata - has 2 wide compartments on the driver's side - that come out with the living-room slide-out.

I travel with my granddaughter. She can practically run underneath to grab anything I forgot to bring out before the slides went out or anything that comes up during our stay.

At Lowes or Home Depot there are 1/2 inch thick, 24 inch by 24 inch interlocking foam pads. I put one in every compartment so when the door opens the pad can be placed for my knees.

After I opened the top of my head up really bad I bought one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Funny thing is, after wearing it just a few times, I realized that having blood run down my face had "cured me" of bumping my head under the slides.

Don't have any solution for the back or knees other than getting the DW to get the item for me.

12 Gallon Boxes & Tote Bags

I get water, electric, sewer, landing pads, etc. out of the basement before the slides comes out. Also put the boxes away before the slides come out. Use the reverse sequence when breaking camp.

I use a collection of 12 gallon flip top boxes and wide mouth tote bags to carry most stuff in the basement. I can usually pull those out easily. Took the tops off several boxes because I didn't want to mess with closing the tops.

Bought a couple of Safety Bump Caps after gashing my head several times when working in basement or under the slides. There are some models that have LED lights in the brim. Wearing a regular baseball cap was very dangerous because the button at the top would embed itself in my skull when hit. Ouch.

Also have a couple of felt covered vinyl table cloths to kneel on the ground. Very helpful if the ground is wet or gravel. Also useful for crawling under the rig to look or work on things without getting filthy.

Longitude lines are all the same "long" length.

I have slide out trays and the help a lot but the next coach I buy I’ll order power slide trays with the switch to operate them on the baggage door.

When we still had our "Learner" coach (Thor non slide Infinity) learned a painful ( & bloody) lesson about basement storage combined with sharp perimeter edges of the "overlap seal" and exposed mechanicals of a slide when "Volunteered" to help a neighbor get stuff out of his basement storage.
Result was that when the time came to replace our coach with one that has the quality and features I demanded.. went with a coach that does not have sharp edges/lip on the slide perimeters, nor has any exposed mechanicals.. (Still can bang my head but no sharp edges to cut..)

I guess we will have to remember to move slower when going under or coming up. Remembering which door, what, is in, would help too. I sometimes open the third door before I realize where what is. Thank God I have good knees and can crawl from door to door until I find it. I mean what.

"Sometimes" I remember to hook up the utilities before I put out the slides.
I started out putting band-aids on my head every time I tried to stand up before backing out far enough from beneath my slideouts. Then I saw someone who had installed pool noodles along the lower edge of his slideouts. It works like a charm. Just slit the noodle lengthwise and slide it onto the slideout.
