I've been reading about and using a TPMS since Pressure Pro became popular nearly 20 years ago. I've never read about or heard about one being stolen or removed by vandals/thieves.
I do know the anti-theft device will cause a tire owner to make 3 round-trips to the tire store to have a flat repaired. 1. to take it to the shop, 2. to retrieve the wrench for the shop, 3. to pickup and pay for the tire after repair.

"Fairfieldwiz".....A couple of things. First, almost all sensors are the same, so doing homework on the sensors as one poster suggested, wouldn't have made a difference. They are just hard to install on a front rim with an SS simulator. A friend just had the same issue on his Canyon Star.
I recommended on his that he take a wooden dowel and massage the edges the wheel simulator at the valve stem opening. Massaging it will bend the edges over a little, giving more room and help keep from getting cut.
Lastly, look for some plastic tubing or thin rubber hosing that just fits over the sensor. Push the sensor into the tubing/hose and then use the hose as a wrench to start and snug the sensor, finishing with your hand.

Great idea! I just used the same trick with the tiny little nuts that hold the wiper blades on my Dolphin. They're gone forever if you drop them in the gravel.

FWIW, a short length of 1" heater hose works great to install a TST sensor on an inner dual stem, in fact if you aren't careful you will over-tighten and break the sensor. I ain't tellin how I know.

Wow! What timing. I just sent the manufacturer a message asking if I could remove the anti-theft cover and would that impact the sensor since it would be more exposed to weather and water.
Sounds like a lot of you have done it without any issues.
As a side note, but related, I've had the following happen to me twice in the last 6 months thanks to the bad condition of our roads ...
I'm driving along and am unable to avoid a large pot hole. Bamm. I hit the pot hole. At first nothing seems to be happening, but then my "rapid loss of pressure" alarm goes off on one of my inner tires on the back dualies. I pull over and tighten the stem extender that my sensor is attached to and all's good.
What is happening is that the pot hole caused the extra weight of the sensor to spin the U-shaped stem extender and cause it to start leaking air. Yikes.

I had problems with those extenders on my C class. It was still under warranty, so I took it back to the dealer ready to throw a fit. Wasn't necessary They replaced the rear extenders with a stainless kit that used hoses mounted to the wheel cover. Worked great!

Or more than likely something was not installed properly to begin with. Chuck

The extender that I'm talking about is an upgraded SS stem. But, being U-shaped it's not attached to the wheel the way the other one is. I'm hoping that taking off the anti-theft cover will lighten the sensor and I'll be checking the stems before each trip.

Those covers don't seem like they could possibly weigh enough to matter. But maybe that small difference is the answer.
Best of luck to you.

I agree. I'm removing the covers for the same reason everyone else is (or has). I don't think it'll affect the spinning of the stem. I just brought that up since it was related and kinda interesting.

Maybe a SMALL dab of blue thread locker on the threads of the valve stem would be enough to keep that from happening? Obviously you want to be careful not to get any inside the schrader valve.
