Electric BBQ Grill Experience

Looking for input on 120 Volt Electric BBQ & Grill to replace my gas Weber Q. Do they get hot enough? What brands are best?

The Ninja certainly gets great reviews. I want something to use outdoors, has anyone made an outdoor weatherproof cover for it? We do not spend very long at any one spot.

Interesting, been thinking about this myself.

What kind of plug do they need ? 15 or 20 amp? About the same as a hair dryer or coffee maker?

I have a blackstone electric griddle, it has a non stick surface, and heats up to I believe 450 degrees, down to about 200. I have used it for a couple of years and it cooks pretty much everything we need and cleans up easy. I found it to be easier than a grill or a coleman stove with a griddle.

That being said, lately I have been using a George Foreman grill that I bought new/used at a Christian Surplus store for a whopping $10.00. It can be used inside or outside, cooks fish, steaks, burgers, dogs and pretty much anything else. Since there are only 2 of us it is big enough for the protein and a side or two.

Between these two I can cook from breakfast to lunch and dinner. The George Foreman gets used a lot since it is smaller and just as easy to clean.

I just bought the Ninja Woodfire grill. I haven’t yet used it but I’ll report back when I do. I’m excited to try it. I bought all the accessories, including the stand and the cover. I bought extra wood pellets also.

I was looking at the portable Traeger, but we just don't cook outside enough to justify $500. At least the Ninja is "only" $400.

Look forward to your report back.

We use a '50s electric skillet. Without smoke or charcoal, I don't think we could taste the difference. (I do carry a bag of charcoal (with an electric starter) for parks that have a good grill at the site.

Love this. I think clamshells/panini presses, and GF grills are waiting to be rediscovered.

BTW, this is where we'll find air fryers in about 10 years.

The electric Q should be a natural coming from a gas Weber Q. The electric for some reason eliminated the folding shelfs which we rely on. Also the Weber 1400 owner manual states "Use only outdoors, do not expose to rain.". That seems to make it no different than the Ninjas and other "indoor" grills.

We use a GF some of the time, works very well. The convection/microwave oven is our Air Fryer.

We use the Ninja Foodie exclusively outside and store it in a plastic store with a watertight lid.

I see now that the Ninja is an outdoor grill. It's high on the list.

Reportedly pulls 12.9 amps so you can use a 15 amp plug.
