Electrical Issue

I have a 2000 HR Endeavor series 38ft diesel. I had it set up for 2 yrs. and am trying to get it ready for the road. I am having issues with the generator Onan 7500 QD running there is a loud buzzing sound at the shore relays where the 240 50 amp connectors are. There is no power along the passenger side of the MH but have power on the drivers side. With the generator off and I plug into the 240 amp supply I get nothing in the MH. Any suggestions?

Buzzing ro says transfer switch is fluttering. If you can take it out, take it apart and check the points.

Get your volt meter out and test at various points along the line. Narrow down where the power is lost.

If you have no shore power coming into the coach I would check the transfer switch. With the generator running it will have priority in the transfer switch but it sounds like a relay or contact isn't working correctly.

+2 on it being Transfer Switch. Power down, unplug, open it up. Clean up contacts and check lugs on all wires for tightness.

There is a L1 & L2 leads from both shore power and generator. It's possible that one leg is not making contact in the transfer switch.

Determine what make/model transfer switch you have. The Iota ITS-50R is known to have a problem and had a recall back in the early 2000's but some people did not get it done. It is a known fire hazard.

Open up the transfer switch box and look at the wires, remove all power and tighten plugs. If wires are burnt replace as required., check you GFIC, that may effect control voltage I.E. refrigerator and AC controls

Most transfer switches are ~$200 items and take 1-2 hours to replace. I replaced mine last year. It solved all the problems I was having at the time.

Sounds like transfer switch - or you have two problems (1. is buzzing transfer, 2. no power to 1/2 rig).

Does the generator have built-in circuit breakers? Mine has two mounted on it. You might try resetting them both and see if that gives power back. I've read about many that lose 1/2 their power and go to their main circuit breaker box but neglect the breakers on the generator itself.
