Electronic beeping noise, every 4 seconds

Good Morning:

I purchased a 1999 Winnebago Adventurer yesterday and on the way home an electronic beeping noise started sounding that went off every 4 seconds. A friend suggested that it may be a signal that the hydraulic fluid for the leveling system is low. There was no indicator light that showed what the problem might be. Any ideas?

Check your smoke detector batteries

Here's some things to look at:
Inside:
- smoke detector battery(s) low
- CO/Propane detector failing
- some piece of consumer electronics

Outside:
- open each bay and listen carefully

BTW, your leveling system doesn't have an alarm for low hydraulic fluid

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! I don't think the beeping would be the smoke detectors as they usually beep every 30 to 60 seconds when the batteries are low. I can't think of anything that would beep every 4 seconds! Keep her between the ditches!

Were your jack's totally retracted? If the safety devices are original, they should all be replaced.

How about the fridge?
Mine has a alarm if not powered by propane or 110 volt if not turned off.

The oddest thing is that if my foot is on the brake, the beeping would stop until I removed my foot and it would immediately start back up!

I wonder if it could be a turn signal warning - do all of the brake lights, turn signals etc. work properly? Can you narrow down the area it seems to be coming from?

Could it be the backup alarm that is shorted and the backup lights are on when the brake is released. The alarm is triggered by the backup lights. Have someone observe the rear lights while you are in the cab operating as you would normally. Obviously, not while running down the road, just while sitting still.

I just re-read your follow up message and it does seem like it is the same sequence that takes place when the turn signal is on too long and an aural alarm beep starts up. The beeping will continue until the brakes are applied and then it will stop, until the brakes are released again.

Just guessing here...
There are some 3rd party battery tender/charging products that could of been installed in battery bay and that alarm you're hearing could be a warning signal that batteries need to be charged or are low.

Does the coach have a TPMS system on it? If so maybe it's a low or high pressure alarm.

If the fridge was on, check that the doors are tightly closed!
