Your interpretation of how the engine brake is activated is incorrect. If you are going down a long hills, you can tap the brake pedal momentarily and it will activate. Ok, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you had to have the brakes applied for it to come on. I drove commercially for 35 years and I still prefer the switch but that is just me.
