Entrance Door Kick Plate

Marty Potts

2 aesthetic additions I made to our 2019 Thor 3901 Aria: The 2nd step is too narrow for most shoes and people scrape the toes/heels on the vertical painted surface just under the door when entering/exiting the MH. Even though Thor has a clear film paint protector under the door, scuffs still show and can't be removed from the film. I bot a Schlage 8" x 34" stainless steel commercial grade door kick plate at Menards for about $30. I trimmed 2 and 1/4" from each end so it matched the entrance door sill length and I applied 4 1" strips of T-Rex double sided tape to fasten the plate to the MH and the plate has survived several short 70 mph trips. I then super glued 3/16" ball bearings in the top row of fastener holes of the plate and fastened 10/32 stainless steel pan head bolts in the bottom row of plate holes.

Shoe scuffs were also occurring on the vertical surface of the MH inside top step, so I put 4 rows of grey duct tape there. Happy Wife, Happy Life!! 🤣

Very nice! I'm thinking of doing the same on my coach. The risers are carpeted and when entering they get dirty from shoes hitting them. I'm thinking of some kind of toe kick on the risers. Thanks for the idea!

Another use for door kick plates is mud flaps with black duct tape for a logo.

I had kinda same thought. I am thinking of piece of bar across and shoe brushes attatched, and bulb rubber above for shin protection. jeff
