I have several other issues with the Sleep Number bed that have answers elsewhere in the forum but none to this issue that I can find.

I have been full timing it since September and the bed won't seem to maintain the consistent "number" selected. Sometimes it will go down to 0 or some other lower value and other times it is high or maxed out. This can happen when I am not in bed or it may wake me up in the middle of the night with the pressure change. This happens on both sides and sometimes one side goes high while the other goes low. There is no pattern. My wife isn't along so I know she isn't messing with it (which I accused her of doing our last trip together in August).

My current ritual is to reset the desired setting by a quick up and down by a single 5 on each side. The compressor does it's thing and I hope and pray I can make it through the night. Unfortunately I only make it through half the time.

If it was always going low I would search for a leak but with it going high at times I would think there was an issue with the pressure sensor. Has anyone ever torn one of these down for a cleaning or replaced the sensor?

We replaced the pump and remote a couple of yrs. ago, noticed the same erratic behavior. I am using the same procedure to set pressure.

It gets quite frustrating because it disrupts your sleep and gives me back pain. I would expect a much better product for the price. I was just hoping I could break out the tool box this weekend and have a permanent fix. So far a conventional mattress seems to be the only real fix.

We finally dumped ours, after much struggle with similar issues, and got a tempur-pedic. Best decision we ever made.

Try getting the pressure just the way you like it then unplugging the compressor from power. If this works you can get a simple "remote control" switch that will let you power on and off easily.

I have a different brand air mattress in the S&B house, and it is not fancy. A switch to turn on the compressor and fill the mattress, and a switch to open a solenoid air valve to reduce pressure. I only have to adjust pressure a few times a YEAR! It should hold pressure unless there is a leak.

Have you checked with Select Comfort? I seem to remember that their Sleep Number beds have a 20-year warranty.

One word of caution! DON'T admit to them if you have taken anything apart to check out the problem! They will immediately void the warranty! Don't ask me how I know this!

Hi,

I agree with Happy Campers call sleep number or Select Comfort as I'm sure they can help you and ye it is guaranteed for 20 years.

We have a queen size in the house and a king size in the RV and both work just fine.

Call select comfort!

If you increase altitude more than 3000 feet while traveling, you can stress the mattress and air fittings.
I drop the pressure to under 30 when we are going through mountain ranges and passes.
Ours is 6 years old and works fine.

I haven't tried unplugging it once I got the pressure set so I'll give that a try tonight.

I am not the original owner nor were there any receipts in the stack of manuals I got with the purchase of the coach. It won't hurt to give them a call to see.

I haven't taken anything apart yet. I was just checking to see if anyone has had the problem and could fix it themselves.

I haven't crossed any mountains with it. The problem has become quite noticable over the past few weeks and I have been stationary during the time. That is why I was assuming it was some kind of sensor error.

We have been having same problem, curious to hear what solutions you come up with. But must admit have been close to just taking out all together.

another thing, do not tell them you are second owner. the warranty is non transferable...

We had a similar problem, called Sleep Number and they replaced ours with a new unit prorated 20 year warranty. I was not the original owner but all they asked is me to estimate how old it was. They sent me an entirely new pump, hoses and wireless remote for $86 based off 5 years of use. I thought it was fair and excellent customer service.

Mine was slow at pumping and the analog remotes had faded out. We were second owners and they asked me when I bought it and where. Said it's an '08 model bought in '12 from a dealer. $99 - new pump and wireless 2 wireless remotes.

Some don't like SN beds - some do. We love ours and X2 on the excellent service and prorated prices on second hand ownership. It's no wonder that that those of us who like them stick with them.
