EB and fuel consumption/conservation aren't even related or of concern. Whether or not it conserves or expends fuel doesn't matter its what the EB dies that matters.
Use it if you want or don't use it. Some drivers you will see using brakes more and some using EB & transmission gearing more. Some drivers smoke the brakes while others don’t.
When not towing the EB isn't as helpful as when you have a load behind that is pushing you. It doesn't hurt to leave it on all the time unless manf. advises otherwise.
My 2019 F350 works great when towing even with cruise on.
