Exhaust leak at pacbrake

I found my exhaust was leaking where the pacbrake joins the turbo. Would this cause the pacbrake to have less braking power?

The short answer is yes, but the size of the leak would determine how much it would impact the braking performance.

Yes but that's so small a leak...not much difference in braking. I would tighten the clamp.

Did you try to snug down the "V-Band" Clamp when it is cold? Spray a bit of penetrating oil on the clamp's threads and where the nut is turning, and see if you can snug it down a bit. No braking loss with a leak that small.......
Cummins does make small thin gasket's for the full "Marmon" mount and the half Marmon mount.

I'd be more concerned about damage to the turbo. Either way get it fixed.

I haven't tried to tighten it yet, going to do that today. I recently took the PB off because it was stuck closed, I repaired it and reinstalled. I purchased this Mh last Oct. still trying to learn about it. But it doesn't seem to have much braking power when I engage the PB. My previous MH (Diplomat) had much more braking power when engaged. I do understand that this coach is heavier than the dip was.

A exhaust leak will not hurt or damage a diesel turbo..........the turbo does not care where the exhaust gases go.....

You will wind up with exhaust smell and soot inside the coach if not fixed.

mlh2013,
A very important point here. You've been suggested to use some spray of just about any type on the threads of that V-band clamp if and when you go to tighten it. I can't emphasize that too much. I had the same exact leak you do and, I went to tighten mine and the threads SNAPPED! CRAP! So, I started looking around for them and, WOW is all I can say when I found the cost. Below is an Amazon link to one. When I found that cost out, out came the fabrication tools. I simply cut off the head off of the same diameter bolt and welded it on to the broken end of the V-band clamp bolt.

It's been like that for about 3 years now and still working flawlessly. But had I not had that welding setup and the ability to repair it, I was looking at maybe $21.00 for one clamp. So, be careful and get that lube out and spray that thing.
