Just remember that whatever you pay up front for the service contract is only a part of your total out of pocket. Every claim will have a deductible, typically in the hundreds of $'s. Hard to get it to pay for itself with that kind of schedule. I, as others do, self-insure. So far, so good on my Open Road. Some will end up on the plus side with a service contract paying out more than they paid in, but probabilities say most won't. That's what the service contract provider is banking on, literally.
