Extra propane

Where is the best and safest place to carry a grill size propane bottle while traveling?

I carry ours in one of the rear storage compartments inside a plastic milk crate. The crate keeps the bottle stable and makes it easy to remove and use at the campsite. Been doing this for 20 years with no issues. You can get the plastic crates on Amazon and they are not expensive.

Our last MH I carried a 20lb tank in one of the basement storage compartments. I bought one of the clamps that are used on the propane lift trucks to hold a tank. Mounted it to the side of the compartment so the tank sat upright. Worked perfect. It was right next to my main LP tank so I could run a line out the bottom of the compartment the 20lb tank was in and hook it up to my Extend-A-Stay. Really nice when we camped in colder weather. We could run the furnace off the 20lb tank and just remove that tank to have it refilled instead of taking the MH to have the onboard tank filled.

Here is the documentation you are transporting LP safely: http://www.apollopropane.com/pdf/Tra...eCylinders.pdf
In a perfect world the compartment will be ventilated, but nothing in this world is perfect.

in basement with detector

I carry 20lb and several 1lb in the basement. The 20lb is in a milk carton, and I added a propane detector (12v) in that compartment. I plan on venting that compartment in the future.

Thanks all. The milk crate works great keeps the tank from rolling around.
If i installed a propane detector in the basement how would i hear the alarm if it was to go off ?
