F53 Parking brake pedal / level assembly

You have to be a contortionist to even get your eyeballs on it, but I think the portion of the bracket that holds the release "pull" lever has broken off of the assembly that holds the foot pedal. From pictures online, it's pretty close to this - Lever Assembly - Parking Brake - Ford (4C3Z-2780-AA) - but I figure I can call and get the correct part number, that's not a big issue.

Has anyone changed one of these? It looks like 3 or 4 bolts, I'm just not sure if I can bend myself into position to do this, if the seat or the dash has to be pulled to get to the bolts, or if I will ever walk upright again after twisting into that position.

I just had mine off and back on again. there are only three bolts but they also have nuts on them so you need a socket and a wrench. I turned my chair around and pulled it forward, away from the dash and it wasn't that difficult

I'm parked for two weeks and have the chair turned, I'll get out the aspirin and see if I can get in there - thank you!

Good luck. I tried getting to the sensor for the landing legs and felt like I needed a year or two of yoga under my belt to reach it. My seat did not retract far enough so I was all sorts of sideways trying to get to it. It can be done however it is very unnatural and uncomfortable. My suggestion is get the tools you need handy so you can get in and get out

That's another part of my concern. When I was more agile (read: younger), I would lay out all the tools, line up my assistant, and then crawl under whatever vehicle it was. Things would go well to a point until my helper would grow restless and go for a break right when I needed that certain wrench.."Honey..?... Honey...? Are you there...?"

Hey Boys,
Ya know, when we first bought our present coach, an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the CAT C-7 330HP, I had to install a C/B and do some re-wire on an auxiliary Sirius radio that hangs below the dash. Well, not really looking into the removal of the drivers captains seat, I too had to become a 6' 2.5", 240 lb. contortionist, dislodge some shoulders, double joint some fingers and a few other things, to get into the position, to do the work under that dash.

Yes, I had the drivers seat all the way back, as far as possible. And, it didn't matter if it was turned 90 degrees or not, it was still too close to the dash for "comfortable" work. But, that was then. When I decided to toss that 108 lb. Sony boat anchor TV that was overhead and come into the 21st century with a new, 32", 8 lb, LED TV, I was also going to do some serious rewiring of all my speakers and audio system etc. And that meant, let's look into what's really involved in removing that drivers seat.

Well, to say the least, I was so bummed at myself when I looked at how actually easy it is to remove that seat. I can now have, either the drivers or passengers captains chairs off and out of the way, in oh maybe 3-4 minutes, tops.

Now, does this mean YOUR seats are that easy to actually remove, not a clue. But, it might be worth a look at ALL the mechanism and see, if there's an easy way to get them out of the way. Worth a look.

I was just going to say what Fire up did. Remove the seat. I had other work I needed to do under the front dash and although not as big as he is, I am 6' 190and could not get both hands under the dash to do the work. Took the seat out and easy.
