Faded Coach

Hi all, I have a 2001 Bounder that has spent it's whole life in California, so it need some love to get clean and get a little shine. No clue when it was last washed or waxed. I have seen posts about different polishes, but what do I start with? This is my first coach, so want to make sure I don't make it worse than its already is. Thanks

Is the gel coat in good shape? If it is not, having a new top coat applied would be best. Buffing out faded and weather-beaten gel coat is somewhat futile IMO.

If it is just painted fiberglass I would first use a 3M medium polishing compound on a small inconspicuous area to determine the results.

Depending on how neglected the surface is, polish may work well or not at all.
As Kdog800 said, hopefully the gelcoat is serviceable.

Our '96 coach was weathered, but was a least wash yearly. I spent a few days with Meguiars One Step #67 and Oxidation Remover #49 with a 7" variable speed circular polisher and wool pan.

We first used our orbital polisher from Griots Garage, which we use on our cars and trucks. After a day of use, with a foam pan, we switched to the more appressive circular polisher.

For wax application, we still use the orbital.

EDIT: I meant to type rubbing compound instead of polishing

https://www.meguiars.com/marine/prod...6-16-oz-liquid Start with this and you will also have to use a good quality dual action orbital buffer with a sponge type pad. Griot's makes a very good one. Spend more money on the product and the equipment to get the job done or you will be very frustrated.
