Fantastic Fan Question

My existing vent fan in my MH crapped parts and quit working. I ordered a replacement and it delivered the other day with quite detailed operating instructions but no installation or supplied parts info. I can install and hookup with no problems but do have a question. In the box was a piece of solid white foam that was stamped and when I punch out the center it looks like a gasket that runs around the flange on the outside roof frame. I have self leveling sealant for sealing but wonder if this 1/8" foam gasket looking thing is used also? I looked at the fantastic vent website but couldn't see any installation instructions.

Thanks!

I installed a new fan in my TT a couple of years ago, and if I remember correctly the white foam 'gasket' goes down first on the roof, then the fan; Dicor all around and you are done. Call Fantastic if you want it from the right end of the horse....

Does yours have a wall thermostat? I agree that instructions are weak on their fans.

The one I'm removing has wall thermostat. However the one I'm replacing it with has all controls on the fan. I will bypass the cabinet face switch and install a blanking flange.

Gaskets like that, foam and soft rubber, are typically to prevent any imperfections in flatness / smoothness from creating pressure points when snugging down mating surfaces. They are typically not to be waterproof barriers so after all is snugged in then sealant, like dicor, needs to be applied to provide protection against water intrusion.

Seems any I have installed with the gaskets, even though well sealed have eventually leaked. After clean up and using dicor only they never gave me a problem.

I was told by their TS to cross 2 wires on the back of the thermostat. The wire is supposed to control the direction of the cover motor.
I have 2 - this one is for the bath vent

This one is for the "Central Vent" that my coach has

I haven't pulled mine yet so I am not sure what is behind the thermostat. Can you take pics when you pull yours please?

My wall switch/thermostat looks nothing like yours. I will post pictures. Just don't expect a lot.
